Bucharest, Romania’s largest city and capital, is a marvelous town that is famous for its wide, tree-lined boulevards, magnificent Belle Époque buildings and a historical reputation for high life. Indeed, Bucharest was dubbed ‘Little Paris in the 1900s. In fact also this city boasts an Arc de Triomphe, just like the French capital. The legend has it that the city of Bucharest was founded on the banks of the Dambovita River by a shepherd named Bucur, whose name means literally "joy."
