The marvelous Spanish region of La Rioja is popular for the production of exquisite wines. La Rioja offers many possibilities for rural tourism, fishing, climbing or hiking. Yet, nature is not the only interesting characteristic of the region. Of major touristic interest is the Camino de Santiago De Compostela, the celebrated pilgrimage route, a portion of which leads through La Rioja. The monasteries that lie along the way are not only of high artistic valor, but also of major cultural importance. Villabuena de Alava is another wonderful town in La Rioja. Villabuena is a municipality belonging to the Basque region of "Rioja Alavesa”. This region is characterized as one of the main producers of wine, with the Denomination of Origin Rioja. Among the major highlights: Vi?a Ozadi, Arabarte, Luis Ca?as, Vineyards and Wineries of the Marquise. There are two Wine Museums: Villa Lucia in Laguardia (10km), and Dinastia Vivanco in Briones, (15km).
