San Martín de los Andes is one of the most emblematic Andean cities in Patagonia, Argentina. The town is situated in the province of Neuquén, at the foot of the Andes, beside the Lácar Lake, 45 km from the border with Chile and about 1,545 km from Buenos Aires. The area of San Martín has a population of about 24,000 inhabitants, including its surroundings. The architecture of San Martín de los Andes, with its stone and wood, is modeled in the style of a European alpine village and, just like any town in the Alps, it is a very popular tourist destination either for the ski season or the summer, thanks to one of the most spectacular landscapes in Patagonia. In summer visitors may enjoy adventure sports like kayaking, mountain biking, trekking, rafting, horse riding and trout and salmon fly-fishing.
