安道尔共和国,安道尔城
Andorra la Vella is the capital of the Principality of Andorra, one of the smallest nations in the world. Andorra's independence is traditionally credited to Charlemagne, who regained possession the region from the Muslims in 803 AD, and to his son Louis I the Pious, who granted its inhabitants a charter of liberties. It is a lively town which is an excellent base for exploring the many snow-capped mountains surrounding it. The city's old town in the Barri Antic is characterized by old cobblestoned streets and fascinating stone houses. One of Andorra's main attractions is the church of Santa Coloma, built in the 9th and 10th Centuries, and thus one of the oldest in the country. The Casa de la Vall, the seat of parliament, is also a worthwhile place to visit in Andorra la Vella.
